Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial will air after we reported two days ago about the Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad and Romans 1:16. While the Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial has not yet been released to the public, it is already causing controversy.
The Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad is one of the first advocacy ads accepted by CBS during the big game. In the past, groups such as PETA and MoveOn.org were refused air time. With regard to the Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial, CBS spokesperson Dana McClintock stated, “We have for some time moderated our approach to advocacy submissions after it became apparent that our stance did not reflect public sentiment or industry norms. In fact, most media outlets have accepted advocacy ads for some time."
As we discussed, the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad is purported to include Tebow and his mother discussing her decision not to have an abortion. His mom had a life-threatening infection and opted to have her baby. Her fifth child was born healthy and named “Timmy”. Tim Tebow grew up to become a fantastic football player leading the University of Florida team to national championships in 2006 and 2008.
Despite the fact CBS changed their policy about advocacy ads, groups are opposing the Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial including The Women's Media Center. A Facebook group in opposition to the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad has over 7,000 members.
Even before the Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial, the football player proudly showed his faith. Tim Tebow wore bible verses in his eye black. Tim Tebow grew up near Jacksonville, Florida and attended the First Baptist Church.
In honor of this fine young man and the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad, here is Romans 1:16 again:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16

In Nazi Germany 40% of all babies were aborted. In the US in 2003, 39% of all babies were aborted. That is horrible.
Kimberly,
If you've devoted over 200 hours of research on Nazi Germany, then you know that an extraordinarily high number of newborns were killed at birth - either because of some perceived abnormality or if the baby was of Jewish decent.
It wouldn't be a stretch to describe the aforementioned as "abortion".
The fact is Tim Tebow exists. I think that's pretty nice don't you? Aren't you glad you exist? Maybe not, but I hope so. This one who was considered to be aborted ends up being one of the greatest quarterback in college football history. He has entertained millions and has a zeal for what he believes in. I think that is admirable. Consider the fact that someone who was almost aborted going on to live a full and fruitful life, on desireous of blessing others.
I think if you would asked the Tebos (includning the one who almost never existed), they would have told you that they have given gererously to the Haitian cause. I don't know this for sure, but I would suspect it. Some may have a million dollar pulpits, some may only have 'gather', but whatever your platform, isn't it nice that someone somewhere is using his platform to encourage life and not death? Goodness instead of evil?
Brent, I pray that God richly blesses you in every aspect of your life. I may disagree with you, but I respect your right to an opinion. The God that Tim and I believe in has power to change our minds and attitudes, and causes us to love and build one another up. He does this for everyone who truly believes in him.
I also appreciate this site which allows for the free exchange of ideas. As the scriptures say, 'As Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another'.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to the post. I happen to agree with you about your, Tim's, and my God. However, I think it is somewhat tasteless to air this as a commercial during the super bowl, when there are far more efficient means of spreading the word. That said, would anyone here be offended if a large pro-choice organization were to put up the same type of ad, with the same circumstances, except that it was Charles Manson's mom who had the decision to make, followed by something like "ending just one life could have saved many more." I, personally, would find this repulsive. The fact remains that Tim Tebow is just as valuable to God, whether he grew up to be a good football player or a bank robber.
We are all precious in his sight.
Do you believe that there is such a thing as truth; statements on life that would be true of everyone? What we are discussing here calls for widom and understanding; discerning what is right and wrong relating to issues such as abortion. Is there an answer as to what is right and wrong in this life, or is it all based on our opinions?

I prefer to get my truth from places other than super bowl commercials. If we have come to the point that groups like Focus on the Family or Planned Parenthood caim to be the voice of God through self indulgent overpriced television time, we should all re-evaluate what his message really is. Do we need Budweiser to tell us rape is wrong? Abortion is wrong(I am sure that most women that get them believe this also), my question is, what is the real purpose of ths uber-expensive ad? To tell the "truth", or to cause controversy?
Brent
Have to be away for a while. I'd like to discuss this more with you if you are interested, if not just say so. I've learned to take rejection fairly well.
