Even now in this day of cable, I'm noticing that the damn Presidental speechs take over way too many channels. Isn't it enough to put him on CNN, MSNBC, and other stations tthat may specialize in news? He was even on CBC, which last time I checked, stood for CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION!!! Just for that, Americans should have to broadcast Prime Minister Stephen Harper's next big speech on CNN, live. LOL

This is not a personal rant at Obama, this is at presidents in general. I'd be just as pissed off if I had to miss all of my shows for President McCain's State Of The Union Address.

Let's just keep the news on the news stations. That's what they're there for.

My TV's so old it doesn't have a DVD player. We only have DVD players in our individual computers. LOL However, my old Victrola is sitting right next to my computer, and there's a stack of about 200 records on my shelf underneath it. I'm building a lot of muscle in my arm cranking the darn thing every time I want to put a new record on. LOL (and no I'm NOT joking)

This is Canada! Who cares about the American State of the Union. It's not like he's going to declare war on Quebec (although the rest of the provinces would be cheering).

LOL Walker, too freaking funny. But it does bug me. The BBC World Service has a special program called Americana, all American news, and analysis. CBC broadcasts State Of The Union addresses. American news magazines are available up here. Why the hell don't other countries focus on Canada a bit more?

It is that way all the time. When any president comes on, they break to the speech or conference. Sometimes I don't mind watching it, sometimes I'd rather not. It used to drive me nuts when it was George W. Bush, but with Obama I don't mind watching. He is so smart and speaks so well.

Try reading a book. For those of us who care about the state of the union, it is an important speech, but for Canadians...well, it was probably low on the priority list. But the fact remains that the future of this country will impact our neighbors on the north as well as the rest of the world. And hey, if Obama can't get this country straightened out and a health care plan--I may be moving to Canada.

My Husband is an AMERICAN, and agrees with me. I am not upset that it is on, I am upset that it is on almost every station, and is pre-emting shows when it doesn't have to. We have CNN, MSNBC, and all kinds of stations specifically for news and politics. And it's obviously important enough to enough Canadians that they put it on CBC. Since Canada cares enough to put it on CBC, it would nice to one day see Prime Minister Stephen Harper on CNN or MSNBC one day. We can get American news magazines in Canada (I subscribe to Newsweek) but would you ever see a Canadian News Magazine like Mcleans in an American news Stand?

And reading? I spend atleast 2 hours a day reading. I go to the cafe every afternoon and read. It's my "me" time.
