John Edwards said that he still cares deeply about his wife even though they are seperated.
"It is an extraordinarily sad moment, but I love my children more than anything and still care deeply about Elizabeth," Edwards said in a statement to The Associated Press.
Elizabeth Edward's friend confirmed that Elizabeth and John Edwards have separated. Elizabeth's sister, Nancy Anania, said that Elizabeth remains strong.
A new tell all book details the affair that John Edwards had and discusses his two year old child he fathered during the affair with Rielle Hunter. John and Elizabeth Edwards have been though a lot of things in their marriage including the death of their 16-year-old son and her ongoing battle with cancer.
John and Elizabeth Edwards were law school sweethearts, and they were married in the summer of 1977 just a few days after they each took the bar exam. Elizbeth's wedding ring only cost $11 and they had to borrow money for their honeymoon.
It is too bad that John and Elizabeth Edwards were not able to stay together after having weathered so much of life together.
