I remember clearly that tragic day. Awoke to the news that such a great artist and advocate of peace had been violently murdered.

I also recall that around the same time period Reagan was shot and wounded, the Pope was shot and wounded and someone fired blanks at Queen Elizabeth II as she rode her horse in a procession through London. My thoughts were: out of those four people John Lennon has to be the only one who dies. How unfair. Take any of the others first, please.

I was in New York that morning for what should have been a very festive wedding. The news from across town laid a shroud of sadness over the ceremony.

I stil miss him. We were thousands holding hands outside of Trinity Church, Copley Square on the at cold December day, as Imagine was broadcast to us, we looked at the clouds, the service inside was full....

Yes, I know it was Kennedy - I was reflecting on a comment above about the Reagan shooting, and the recent 'holiday' of Martin Luther King's birthdate... I should have specified what I was thinking.
So many of our heros have died way too young.
