Hubby and I have been married almost five years and we have yet to take a real vacation. Sure, we've taken some trips. We've traveled to Michigan to see my mom and to attend my sister's wedding. We've traveled to Pittsburgh for my brother's funeral. And, we've driven all the way to Texas - to get my stuff out of storage. But we haven't had a vacation.
My son hasn't had a vacation for years either. Back when I was a regional sales director for a home party plan, I used to earn trips. I always earned a trip for two - for his dad and me - and we were able to buy in for our son quite cheaply. We had a fabulous free trip to Disney World and one to Hawaii. The company for which I worked always put us up in Hilton Hotels and paid for our transportation and two meals per day, plus all the excursions. But it's been years - since 1992 or 1993 - since I had that job.
So, my son got the idea to give us a bank for Christmas where we can dump our change each day (or every few days) to see how quickly it can add up.
Here's how we're doing so far.
It's something. :-)
Even if we only get a few days and only go a few hundred miles away, we need to take a vacation this year.
