WEEI, the sports radio network based in Boston, has fired Pete Sheppard from their program "The Big Show." Sheppard has worked at the station since 1994, and has played a sort of sidekick and co-host on "The Big Show" since 1999.
Station owner Entercom Communications said that the separation was forced by economics, and had nothing to do with Sheppard's job performance. WEEI's troubled
environment is partly do to new competition from The Sports Hub, the new FM radio sports network that replaced WBCN rock radio (sniffle sniffle).
Technically, it was Sheppard's position that was eliminated. So at this point I'm not entirely sure if he's out on the street or if they're finding something else for him to do.
