Klaus Nomi, was a German countertenor noted for his wide vocal range and an unusual, otherworldly stage persona.
This is not only a good Nomi number, but it's also the best hit song out of that old 1689 Purcell English Baroque opera, Dido and Aeneas. In the old opera Dido sings this at the end just before she throws herself on a burning funeral pyre.
I know it as "Remember Me" ... On his 1982 album it was just called "Death". It's all very very classical and grand.
Nomi was one of the first celebrities to contract AIDS. He died in 1983 at the age of 39 as a result of complications from the disease.
