I have finally seen Avatar and highly recommend this film that was released in traditional 2-D, as well as 3-D and IMAX 3D formats. I saw it in 3-D. I went with a couple friends and they came with an attitude that it would only be interesting for the first ninety minutes. That proved to be wrong. Two of the three of us really appreciated the movie. I am truly impressed with the filming and can appreciate the storyline. Could this be our future?

The story didn't strike me as especially original, the plot was fairly predictable, and the dialogue was definitely weak in parts. But I was already expecting that from all the reviews I'd read, and went in planning to pay attention mostly to the visuals. In this I was not disappointed. Cameron has definitely created a stunning-looking, convincing world, and if nothing else you've got to appreciate the special effects -- I for one was totally immersed in the sights and very quickly forgot completely that the Na'vi characters were computer-generated (albeit from motion-capture of the actors). In fact, it's easy to forget that in a lot of scenes there is absolutely NOTHING on the screen that exists in the real world: everything is digitally created.
I wouldn't call it the greatest movie I've ever seen, probably not even the best of this year, but as a visual and technological achievement, it's a pretty impressive piece of work.
Enjoy "It's Complicated" and let us know your views. I always appreciate reading reviews.
