Have you guys seen this? My daughter (8 yrs old) picked this out at the library the other day. I had not even seen previews on it. It's an Adam Sandler movie and he plays this rather unusual character who is helping to watch his niece & nephew while his sister is out of state on job interviews. His sister's friend, Jill, is also helping with the kids. It starts off with him not having a clue about how to deal with children, and it doesn't help that these kids have been forbidden to do most of the normal kid things (like watch TV, eat junk food, etc). So, at bedtime he starts telling them these bedtime stories. Then the next day, parts of the story come true.
At the same time, he's working as a maintenance man for a hotel that his father started, but sold out to a guy who made it a big fancy hotel. He gets a chance at running the hotel but has to come up with the best idea for a new hotel. He waits til the last night before the presentation to have the kids help him come up with the ideas as part of their bedtime story, since the stories were coming true.
The movie is really laugh-out-loud funny. The quirky things Adam Sandler does, the twist with how the bedtime stories become real, the "boy's" version of fairy tales (a little action & gross stuff), the "girl's" version of fairy tales (romance & princess stuff), and a very fun character as Adam's best friend make this a truly delightful movie suitable for all ages. My daughter's are 5 & 8 and all three of us just sat and laughed and laughed. The only potentially "adult" content I recall was the reference to girls being "hot" and a beach scene with women in bikinis, as well as some references and/or suggestive material to dating but it was pretty toned down.
Laughter was the much-needed "medicine" for this house today and this movie was a perfect fit. I think I'm going to have to find this one on a "rewards" program to keep in my personal library!
