Since it is a new year, I thought I would spotlight a few active groups in the Gather community. This is just a sample of the groups you will find.  There are many more.Â
Â
Â
Susan Budig owns the group DailyFreewrite. Freewrite can be an important jump start to writing. Habits and routine help to move you from an occasional writer to a serious, successful one. In this group we combine freewrite with habit so that each member is encouraged to take five minutes or more each day to freewrite.

Genre Creatives Challenge is a very active group owned by  Jennine D.   Genre Creative Challenge is a group that is given a monthy theme, from a specific chosen genre and or sub genre. The Judge of the month sends out a challenge to the group Members to write about or in photos a specific style, type, color, theme of photos chosen by the Judge.
All posts and photos not in keeping with the chosen specific genre of that month will be declined. All titles and or photos must include GCC or if a Non Challenger NGCC. At times the photo and writing topic judges may confer and combine a chosen photo and writing theme to make a photo essay. Photos must compliment the genre of the month, art work as well will be encouraged as well as long as it is genre of the month appropriate. I prefer to keep adult content low key and not overly graphic. Submissions for writing posts will be 3 chapters at the most and no more than 1500 words per chapter.

UPDATE ON THE PROBLEMS WITH CVS CARDS

Gather has heard from members who recently received CVS gift cards that their cards were not activated. We are so sorry this has happened!
Once previously we received a batch of gift cards from CVS that were not activated and we were able to resolve this directly with CVS and did not have to replace gift cards. That is what we are working on right now with CVS.

Where To Find Things On Gather
Â
This is an older post written by  Chuck McGuire, Gather.com Member Support but it still has a lot of great information in it. Some of the information is not up to date but most of it is.  This is a great post to find out how to share posts, photos, etc. It is great to help you find out how to cash in your points and where to find out how to change your profile.

Do You want To Make More Points On Gather
One of the questions members frequently ask the Support team is for tips on how to get more views to their content so they can earn more points. An easy way to do this is by checking to see what is being searched for on the major search engines and to pick a topic that interests you from the list of top searched trends to write about.
The Google trends list is updated very regularly throughout the day. MaryAnne be publishing this list daily to the Earn More Pointsand SEOgroups. Feel free to check out these posts for ideas. If you write about one of the items on the hot trends list, and use the keywords that are being searched on, your content will be one of the items returned in the search engines and you’ll draw more viewers to your content.

I just never could get into Facebook. All my friends are on Gather. :)
I love your new icon. You look beautiful!
It is so cold here that I just cannot seem to get warm at all.
Me either. It's never been this bad before. I have to get in to the doctor somehow and get it checked out. Among other things :(
anything below 76 is too cold for me LOL
It's 15 here and I have to go out and take my mom to the dr here in a bit....
I wish it were 76 degrees. LOL
its been getting into the negative degrees. I do not even want to mention that....
I hope you are doing well.
I just thought that might be a good way to start the new year. Also many new members are not familar with the groups and this may help.
How are you doing?
You are always welcome. I just thought others may enjoy your book review as well. :)

Just thought I should point this out. It's supposed to be an active group. This doesn't look very active. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
I added that group because it has information that I thought new members may use.
Thanks for pointing out that it has not been active for a while. You are correct on that point. Thanks
Engagement Marketing Editor- is the one I originally clicked.
I just wanted to make sure everyone else knew what was what, incase they made my mistake.
Thanks for the group listing, I didn't know genre creative accepted photos for their theme challenges - I'll be off to join.
Thanks for all the info, Connie and I will think about you while you go under the knife.
I don't really look for many new contests until later in the week. Too many holidays going on lately. :)
Thanks for thinking of me. :)
I'm going to be worried until I hear something from either Roger or Victoria on how you're doing.....
