Washington Wizards All-star Gilbert Arenas and his teammate Jarvis Crittenton recently had a dispute over a gambling debt. The argument, which occurred on Christmas Eve at the Wizards arena, is the one you may have heard about where surprisingly Gilbert Arenas pulls a gun, as did his Wizards teammate Jarvis Crittenton. Ironically, the Wizards are the team formerly known as the Bullets. There were no injuries reported in the standoff.
According to reports, the 27-year-old Arenas, who is a three time NBA All-Star, drew his weapon first. Crittenton responded by drawing his as well with the two aiming at each other in the locker room. This all went down on a practice day. It all arose after Crittenton confronted Arenas for not making good on a gambling debt. Arenas reportedly has turned his weapon over to Wizards security staff, but did not hand over any ammunition. In addition, Arenas previously plead guilty to misdemeanor gun charges back in 2003 in San Francisco. According to sources, federal agents and the police are now looking into the incident involving these two NBA teammates, one of whom (Crittenton) has yet to play a minute this season for the Wizards.
A statement was released from the Wizards about the Gilbert Arenas pulls gun incident where they said they "take this situation and the ongoing investigation very seriously. We are continuing to cooperate fully with the proper authorities and the NBA and will have no further comment at this time."
