In this day and age, stress seems to be one of the biggest obstacles of our daily lives. Everything from just driving to work, doing our work, handling work and home, trying to make a living, just a tiny sample of some of the stresses we face daily. Sometimes it can seem to be so overwhelming.
At one time my way to handle stress was to sit and bury my sorrows in a half gallon bowl of ice cream. It sure tasted good at the time in my mouth, but not on my hips! That is certainly not a healthy alternative as there are a lot of health risks as a result of stress.
· Stress can cause some physical aches and pains within your body
· Obesity (we can see why if we turn to food for relief)
· Insomnia and fatigue
· Ulcers
· Possible heart attacks
· High blood Pressure . . . and so much more
We cannot get rid of a lot of the stresses in our lives, obviously. A lot of how we handle stress is due to a frame of mind. I have to admit; sometimes it may seem easier than other times. We can’t be happy and calm about things all the time. After all, we are human and can’t set before those types of goals that set us up for instant failure. So, don’t beat yourself up if you set a goal which falls short at the time; just try again the next time. Some of the ways to help stress may be:
· Going for a walk
· Exercise workout
· Playing with your pet
· Reading your favorite book
· Keep a Diary when you feel stress to see the Pattern
· Listening to your favorite music
· Relax & meditate
· Watching your favorite show or put on your funniest movie
· Call a friend
· Go Shopping
· Soak in a luxury bubble bath
There are many relaxing things that can ease the mind at the time so whatever it is that gives you the most pleasure, go for it. Above all, acknowledge your stresses in your life and I would say if any or most of these tips do not help you, maybe you need to speak with your doctor for a more psychological approach to a calmer and better way of life. . . for you and your family, as stress is definitely something felt by everyone around you. Good luck to you and a happier healthier life.
