CNN.com got an earful after publishing an update that said the Los Angeles County Coroner's office is reporting Brittany Murphy's death as not suspicious and apparently of natural causes.
Murphy was pronounced dead Sunday morning at a Los Angeles hospital. The 32-year-old actress had starred in "Clueless" and "8 mile." She was also the voice of Luanne Platter on the long-running Fox animated series "King of the Hill."
Primarily, viewers who posted comments on the story noted that 32 is way too young to die of natural causes, though officials did report that they are still awaiting toxicology results. Here's a sample of public comment:
"Glad someone has raised the concern about an undiagnosed eating disorder as a possibility in a "naturally caused" death of a young woman. A heart attack is not natural at that age unless you have serious heart disease or some other health issue. BUT anorexia and bulimia do contribute to heart attack." - by "drsconnor"
"Karen Carpenter died in 1983 at the age 33 from heart failure attributed to anorexia--a 'new' thing at that time. With the skinny trends these days, and how thin Brittany got over the past few years...could likely be the culprit here as well." - by "insgirl."
"I find it odd, this coroner insists on trying to convince us before toxicology reports are back that "she died of natural causes at 32."
No disrespect to Brittany Murphy or family/friends (and their grieving), but I saw a picture of her last week. I didn't believe it was her because her head appeared large and her body was withered. She tried to excuse it by saying that her family genes had "skinny legs." I have seen that look on mainly young women before and I knew she was in trouble........
Media and men, I know some of you love bones on women but this is as unhealthy as a "weighty" woman and the food that becomes a compulsion and worst.....
I was thinking maybe Brittany could come back and improve herself (from the looks of that picture), then I hear that she has passed away. She is definitely in a beter place, RIP" - by "Imstillhere"
We'll just have to sit tight and wait for final word on the official cause of death. Any other theories?
