It used to be that most of us regular folks envied the rich and famous but, after a year of many premature deaths that seem to be either directly or indirectly a result of the lifestyle, perhaps we'd think twice before entering the world of celebrity. The latest in these sad untimely deaths is actress Brittany Murphy, who preliminary reports are saying died of cardiac arrest. TMZ.com first reported the story of her death this morning:
We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her time of death was listed as 10:04 AM.
Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word." Murphy was reportedly fired from last film, "The Caller," after reports she was problematic on set.
Reuters.com has also noted that there has been widespread speculation of drug abuse due to Murphy's emaciated state recently and, sadly, her husband (British screenwriter Simon Monjack) might have been struggling along with her. He apparently went unconscious on their plane trip back after Murphy was let go from the filming of "The Caller," and was rushed to the hospital.
Ashton Kutcher, who dated Brittany Murphy in 2002, expressed his sadness via Twitter late this morning:
"2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon."
2009 has certainly had no shortage of tragic endings. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy.
