Rapper Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, and 11 other people traveling with him were detained Friday night by U.S. Border Patrol officers. Marijuana was found on two buses due to drug dogs that picked up the scent.
Lil Wayne was scheduled to play in Laredo, Texas on Friday but the show got postponed and is to be rescheduled.
Lil Wayne is already on his way to prison in February for weapon possession back in 2007.
The case has been referred to the Brook’s County Sheriffs Office. There have been no arrests as of yet. Representatives fro Lil Wayne have not commented on the situation at this time.
Lil Wayne was named best selling artist in 2008 with 2.8 million records sold. His new track ‘Drop The World’ was just released this week, featuring rapper Eminem. Lil Wayne’s new album ‘Rebirth’ is set to release in February 2010, later than originally planned. The rapper wanted to release his album at the same time as his prison sentence so fans could enjoy his music while he’s away.
