Remember the days of Dr. Kavorkian (sp) and his assisted suicide 'patients', thos who cam to him to die because they were suffering a terminal illness?
And how he was convicted of murder?
Remember how all but one state ended assisted suicide? And the one state that it is 'legal' in, there are strict laws for it, patient counseling, the person must ask for it twice of their own will, and sign a written statement after that upon receiving counseling.
Remember the battle to keep Terri Schiavo alive, in spite of her husbands desire to murder her so he could move on with his life? How her parents battled for her life, wanted to take her home and he wouldn't do it?
A doctor is supposed to take an oath to help save lives, right?
So why do we have a new doctor death? One who helps people get an illegal drug to help them end their life when they are terminally ill.
Its being dubbed the peaceful pill!
I don't call anything that ends a life even if it is painless peaceful, I call what this man is doing murder. From several sights that I have read this man has accompanied people across the boarder to Mexico to buy this drug.
So why do we have a new drug being called the peaceful pill. A drug used often by Vets to euthanize animals.
Basically what you do is disolve it in your drink, follow it with whiskey and the person almost immediately goes to sleep, and death occurs shortly after.......
So people who are older than 50, and appear to be of sound mind, does he have them go to a shrink and get a statement before the workshop or seminar about the new 'peaceful pill?' to verify that they are of sound mind? These people pay 40.00 to hear about assisted suicide.
I'm sorry this is wrong, dead wrong.
The law on assisted suicide was overturned but like Kevorkian, he swears and believes that he is doing a good thing, now he continues, but he doesn't administer it, he truly believes that he's helping.
I'm sorry I don't agree with suicide at all. And while I understand why some may want to end their life rather than live witha terminal illness, I am a person who has tried suicide, I survived, by the Grace of God.
But with that being said, I saw the effects that many faced with a loved one that had killed themself. I saw the effects that it left on family and friends and even if a person is older and facing an illness those friends and family members are faced with the same issues.
This is something that is being given as a CHRISTMAS GIFT
What kind of message does it send to say I love you now here is a way you can end your life.
Sorry but that just does NOT sit well with me.

My honest not so humble opinion, each of the person(s) that he accompanied to get the drug he should be charged with and tried for murder.

I'm torn on the issue as well. I understand the arguments against. I've seen the arguments for with my own eyes.
Stop trying to control my life. I reject any claim you may think you have to overrule my decision to die should I choose to die.
Just now life is really good and I think I can keep that going for a while longer.
I'm sorry I don't agree with this quack, and how he is going about it.
There are arguments for and against assisted suicide, however, I don't think a doctor should take a person to Mexico and assist them in buying a drug to keill themself.
And to charge 40.00 a workshop to tell someone how to commit suicide?
He sounds like a greedy QUACK!

Why can't we buy the pill without a Dr.'s prescription. ?
1. there must be the diagnosis and evaluation.
2. there must be the counseling.
3. This is a very personal decision. However, the fact is that only a doctor can prescribe.
Please address the case of a person who is cheerful but has decided to die. They would like to bring their life to a close at this time for their own reasons which you may or may not understand.
Is there any reason why they should not be allowed to do so? If so, to what lengths is it reasonable / acceptable for the society to go in preventing that person's death?
I am for suicide. I make this no secrete! I will keep voting for it.
Why should someone else have the control if for instance, I live or die??
People are so willing to give up there rights to the government, to be led around like sheep in day to day lives. Why can't we just allow people the basic right to die if they want too?
Allow people to have a right to end there life if they choose too (to get help if this is what they want). If it were legal maybe we would not have "suicide by cop", or those who commit suicide taking innocent people with them.....
Respect has to be given to life, and death. Without respecting one, we can not have respect for the other.
From my understanding this isn't what happens with this man.
And it concerns me greatly.
I think that there should be laws with assisted suicide, as Oregon has, the only state that does have laws, and they are strict laws.
And I think there should be the supervision of a doctor in case something goes wrong.
This isn't as much about assisted suicide, but about the way this man is going about it that is sitting wrong with me.
It seems to me that he is more of a person looking to make money and to get sued.
