weird email

I just got an weird email in my aol account

it says H. ***** has sent you a gift

then it has my mailing address included... my mailing address, and it has a clickable link saying "view your gift"

now i dont know a h. ***** but how the heck would someone have my mailing address and then send me an email like this

now i am noisy and i would really love to click on the link but i am afraid its a Virus or something

but how would they get my mailing address and my last name????

You and me both!
I jsut checked my suspect spam folder on my earthlink account and some anonymous person, signed as 'secret admirer' wrote all this 'how I really have feelings for you, I have your pictures on my body(?)" stuff, I clicked on his blog, on Goolgle and it took me to a porn site! I reported it, but so weird!

I would not click the link. Even you utility companies sell your information, so it would not be hard to get. Even with your phone they could do a reverse look up for your address.

Yep -- sounds pretty "phishy" to me! I used to keep a little folder to put all my "mystery mail" in it, but now I generally deep six the phish ones. They keep getting craftier all the time. We also had this case where a survey company called us two days in a row, right after I told the company to take our number off their records -- and they said they did! They were giving us samples but then you'd have to do a half hour phone survey with embarrassing questions, but you didn't get paid any points or money for the call! Thanks for posting this.
