If it were your child being abused what would you do?

I went to the court house today to get a car title and came across a demonstration.

Scioto county~ Portsmouth, Ohio

What i was told in the court house was that a mother was protecting her child form abuse, I'm not sure what she did but I don't think its a crime for a mother to protect her child no matter what she has to do to do it.  I gave them the web address for gather so I hope they stop by and fill in the details.  Not long after i took these shots they must have been told to leave the court house area because they were standing down the street.  I though peaceful protest was still legal in the US.

If my child was being abused, I'd be the one in court on trial! Because I would have done something not very nice to the abuser! I think parents who protect their children from abusers should get a medal of honor!

I think it quite natural for a mother to fight to the death to protect her child.

The sad truth is, women get punished with harsher jail/prison sentences than men do.

It depends on what she did. If she killed someone that is one thing. But if she was protecting her child and harmed someone during an attack that is justified, but if she pre-meditated a revenge and took the law in to her own hands that is another thing. Without really knowing what she did or exactly why it is hard to say. But I can certainly see losing your head after something like that happens to your child.

It's hard to form an opinion without knowing the circumstances. I honestly can't imagine what I would do if someone hurt my children in any way, but you don't mess with mother bear!

I would do almost anything to protect my child....

They can't protest on the courthouse steps like that.....they have to be something like 300 feet away....it's a legal thing.

I had to be pulled off a women who did something to my kid.
I really feel I would have been put in jail if the men did not pull me off her.
Do not mess with someone children!
The cops told me they had problems with the lady before. The cops told me she might think twice before ever doing what she did again!
I wanted charges to be pressed, the cops told me no I really do not because the lady had to be sent to the hospital.

So I no what I will do..... Thank goodness my kids are older now and can stand up for themselves. Do not ever mess around with momma bear. Something snaps inside us. Our children need protection from weirdos. Granite I did snap, but that is my kid!!

To be honest, I really don't know the whole story about this. Was the dad actually abusing her? If so, why is he not in jail? Or, did the mother accuse him of being a child abuser so that the courts would give her full custody? Sometimes when there's a custody dispute, it can get very ugly. I don't know whose side to take on this.

I know someone that just ran off and took her child away from her dad all of a sudden to another country and allows the father no contact with him. There was no trial, hearing, or anything and no crime was committed by the dad.

A dad is never mentioned. As you say we do not have the information to make a reasoned opinion. Of course a parent would protect a child but we do not know the circumstances and cannot form hard opinions on emotion alone.

The father has custody of the girl but I didn't see any accusations of abuse in the links posted above. I'm not sure what to think on this one until I know more.

This sounds like one of those things where there's lots of "sides to the story". If the child was being abused and she protected it, I say "good for her". There are too many mothers who know/suspect their children are being abused, but find it easier to ignore it than to do something about it.

If it were my child being abused I would probably get a life sentence
