Jon Gosselin was supposed to be in a Maryland courtroom today, Thursday, where he was due to battle it out with TLC over their show Jon & Kate Plus 8. Despite Gosselin not showing up the case moved on without him. TLC, owned by Discovery Communications, sued Gosselin in October for breach of contract--Jon Gosselin made paid and unpaid appearances without the networks knowledge, a complete violation of their terms and conditions.
Gosselin's attorney, Mark Heller, responded at the time by saying, "Jon will vigorously defend against this baseless action ... and we are confident that through the course of litigation it will clearly be evident that Discovery and TLC exploited, manipulated and abused the Gosselins' vulnerability and financial hardship."
It does not seem like he is "vigorously defend[ing]" himself because he failed to show up--unless he is playing it immaturely, like if he doesn't show up it wont happen. The TV show ended because Jon Gosselin demanded that the cameras stay off his property and away from his children--in a if I can't play no one else can type of move. Gosselin's lawyers arguement is that the contract TLC forced the couple to sign was unduly restrictive, complicated and unfair. Why don't you go hid in your room and cry about it? At leat we will get a break from you and your publicity seeking self.
