I am normally a HUGE fan of Carrie Underwood, American Idol winner and country music diva. However, after watching her latest television special the other night, I have to admit I came away feeling very disappointed.
Both my husband and I thought she was trying to be funny, but her attempts at humor were abysmal. We were also left with the impression that perhaps her fame has finally gone to her head.
For a "holiday" special, there were only about three actual holiday songs that were sung and they were saved for the very end.
I used to liken Carrie to Peggy Fleming in her flair for fashion but, once again, I was left to wonder what happened. I was always impressed by her ability to dress with style and a good degree of modesty ~ not needing to follow in the footsteps of so many other young women in the limelight. Was this the "new" Carrie or will she revert back to the Carrie I've grown to admire?
I'm just curious to know if anyone else saw the special and what you thought of it. Are my husband and I way off base, or did you feel the same way?
As for me, I'm not giving up on Carrie. She's been a tremendous success and I refuse to allow one bad performance to influence me in that manner. She's still young and learning and my hope is that she does another show and redeems herself. Thanks for listening... (or should I say reading)!
Take care everyone!

However the past couple of years and especially this year at the CMA's I wondered what the heck she was thinking in her choice of attire.......Maybe her success has gone to her head, maybe she thinks she can take back Country title Female vocalist if she steps it up a bit, I don't know....but while I like her, I like her first album, her new music seems to be more 'rock' than country..... I wonder how much pressure this is from the record label that signed her.
