This is a really sad story, and shows the risks that many are willing to take to maintain their ideal figure. Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano died on Sunday from complications related to a gluteoplasty, a cosmetic procedure meant to firm and/or shape the buttocks. (It's otherwise crudely known as "butt implants.")
It seems that the doctors must have missed the implant when they were attempting to inject whatever liquid filler they use today (I don't think it's silicone), and that liquid traveled to her lungs and brain. The procedure was done last Thursday, and she died of a pulmonary embolism on Sunday.
Some have speculated that Magnano might not have gone to an accredited cosmetic surgeon. Elective cosmetic surgeries have skyrocketed in Argentina in recent years.
Magnano was 38 years old, having won the Miss Argentina crown in 1994.
