It's the latest internet sensation. It involves quirky choreography mixed with amateur dancing, latex, and a whole lot of silliness. But unlike a lot of other videos that buzz around the internet on a regular basis, the "Pink Glove Dance" is for a good cause: breast cancer awareness.
The video consists of the staff of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, a hospital in Portland, Oregon, dancing to "Down," the R&B hit by Jay Sean, while wearing bright pink exam gloves to symbolize breast cancer awareness. Charmingly enough, the resulting arm-waving, bouncing, grooving, congaing, and assorted other -ings turn out to look like an extended segue from the show "Scrubs."
The video was filmed November 4, and put online shortly after. It didn't take long for the video to go viral, and the 3 1/2 minute-long video has now been watched over 1 million times, with over 3,000 comments of inspiration tacked on.
In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the video. It's really cute and for a much better cause than your average viral video.
