I always thought there was a rule of thumb or a basic consideration that it is not polite to call someone before 9:00 AM at their home in the morning, and very rude to call someone after 9:00 PM at night.
Nearly every day last week and now again this morning I have gotten phone calls at a little after 8:30 AM. Now I am up at 7:15 most days so I can see my two older kids off to school so I was up. But as soon as they leave I immediately begin working because I am self employed. However, my 5 year old usually sleeps till 9:30 or 10:00 and I need that couple of hours to get as much work donw as I can before he wakes up and needs my attention. These phone calls have of course been waking him up, and pretty much putting a dent in my work time.
Now this morning I am not feeling well and stayed in bed to get a little extra rest, and sure enough the phone rings at like 8:33. My son is having surgery on the 15th on his eye and it was the hospital calling to pre-register him. So I not only had to wake abruptly but I had to run down the stairs to get my purse to our insurance information and answer a battery of questions all when I was asleep two seconds before that.
I just always thought it was rude to call people before 9:00 in the morning. Has that changed to 8:30 now?
