A friend of mine (former roommate) was pregnant with twins and having complications--ordered to bed rest. One day while she was gone to a doctor's appointment, an elderly female relative slipped into her apartment and stole her cat and had it put to sleep.

Said it would 'suffocate the babies'.

At least this lady has some hope that the dogs are still alive....

My MIL had misgivings about my cat. I did keep the door to his room shut because he was so little and my cat was so big. My cat never once bothered my son.

My grandmother-in-law tried to tell me that the cat would 'take the baby's breath' and I told her to her face that was an old wive's tale...in that family, I would not have put it past any of them to do something similar as to what happened to my former roommate.

Isn't that just the most awful old wives tale? I'd never even heard it, when I had my son... and four cats. But I assure you that if there was truth to it, my cats had free rein to do it! Instead, he is happy and healthy... and adores felines.

When I was a baby my mom's pomeranians slept with me in my crib. I'm still alive. What a mean lady!

Thats why no stranger will ever watch my dogs, any more than I'd trust a stranger with my son.

That is awful - but like Winona said I wouldn't trust a stranger to watch my dogs either. I would have put them up in a kennel if necessary or found a friend to watch them.

That is very nasty. Hopefully she can get the cops to give her some answers.

Oh my this is just horrifying!!

I read in the paper how many people can not care for parrots in our area, they are being neglected and abused.
So I put a ad out on craigslist saying I am experience parrot owner and have room for one more and if anyone has one they can not care for to contact me and I may buy it.
I got horrible, nasty emails and even got my ad taken down!! One of the nasty emails I replied to asking why the nasty email? Then is when I was accused of adopting a ...dove I think it was. I also lived in a very expensive house, drove expensive cars, and had rooms full of birds. Shoot I never new this about myself lol!
It was such a horrible experience I thought why even give away anything more on craigslist. I used to give away a lot of things on there too!!
People are people.

Though I would call every tattoo shop, I would go to every bike shop or do whatever I could to track down my dogs through the tattoo lead I had. The law would also be contacted!! Gosh there are those places who test drugs on critters. Rumor has it they pay money for dogs, stolen or not!! The person made a huge mistake trusting someone to watch her dogs, so very sad!!

We can't be sure that the crazy one wasn't the lady inquiring about her dogs. She may have told the other lady they would be there 3 days and came back 2 months later. You just never know with people.

Very good point. No matter what, someone did something very wrong!!

I remember seeing a couple of People's Court cases where someone would give their dogs to a neighbor or friend to take care of while they were dealing with some kind of issue (I think in one case it was temporary homelessness). But, when they came back to claim their dogs, the people who they have given them to decided that they would just keep them as they figured the dogs were better off with them instead of their original owners.

May justice prevail!
