The 2009 Black Friday sales look sweet, but that's not until after Thanksgiving is over with.  Many eager shoppers won't let turkey day slow them down from doing some early shopping on a day off.  In fact, "Is Walmart open on Thanksgiving?" for 2009 continues to be a popular question which surfers are searching for the answer to online.  Your answer:  Yes, Walmart is open on Thanksgiving day 2009 from 7AM to 7PM.  However, you may want to call your local store to doublecheck before making the drive!

I agree, there will always be sales, so I am just going to take it easy. Besides, I know what I am getting everyone and how and where to get it and none of it is at any particular store.

You'll still be waiting outside. They actually close from like 12am to whatever time your store opens up for the doorbusters. I know cause I used to work there. Good luck tomorrow.
I'm trying to get 2 laptops for my mother in law.
Ours is open all day and night, it is a 24 hour one...they aren't closing at all.

Darlene I agree...I can do all my shopping conveniently online to save money and gas!

Justin, I too have asked for a laptop for Xmas, so hopefully the appropriate gift givers have taken notice of Walmart's sales!

I was always going nuts on Black Friday because of the wacky people out there so I stopped the insanity. I have since started going out the day after Christmas. I make a list of name that we need to buy for, then I put down birthday months by their names. I then go out early in the morning at the store where I want to purchase the most items. I do this until I have most of my people filled. It makes for a long day but the prices are so good I can't resist. It also works for the birthdays that are in the winter because the stores are trying to rid of the winter clothes, comforters etc. So if it is something cooler in clothing that I need I will wait until that seasons clothers go on sale or clearance. New babies coming I figure out when or about the time they will be due & then purchase the type of clothing they will need or I will purchase it a little bigger for the season they will need it. I got $50.00 Whinney the Pooh snowsuits last year at sears for $8.00 a piece. They were made of real warm & cozy materials & I was the hit of the gifts at showers & baby gifts when I went to see the baby. There sales really help me out.

The deals don't start until tomorrow. I found with Walmart that you have to be the first on line, or one of the first 10-20 in the door or you miss the deals. They only have a certain amount in each store and once they are gone that is it. I've given up on Walmart. I shop online at Amazon or Borders or Best Buy. Wally pisses me off.
