With the storm brewing over falsified data among the global warming community, our President plans to commit us to another "environmental", economy-killing deal with foreign countries, including communist China, where they burn coal in "dirty" power plants, and run their factories and heat their homes with wood and coal, as we speak.
Concerning the upcoming meeting in Copenhagen,
Mr. Obama will tell the delegates to the climate conference that the United States intends to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions “in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020,†according to a White House official.

Obama Will Go to Copenhagen
By JOHN M. BRODER AND JEFF ZELENY
Â
Yes, folks, while developing countries all over the world continually spew black smoke into the sky, our efforts to reduce heating and cooling of our homes, use funny spiral light bulbs that change the colors of everything in the house (my maroon towels now look dirty blue), and recycle everything from cans and bottles to kitchen waste (yes, I do have a composter now), Obama is demanding that we do more -- 17 percent below 2005 means at least one fourth less than today's levels!
I am all for clean air and water, but this is ridiculous!
We will have to go back to the stone age!

I don't think the president has much room right now for any more major policy attempts. The spendathon, assorted private sector takeovers, and the fight over ObamaCare have drained away much of his earlier support.
-- dangerous!
~~~
The Senate, regardless of who is in control, has done pretty well overall on ignoring or shooting down most of the bad ones so far
~~~
How far do you have to go before you are not a "developing" country anyway? Seems to me if you can afford nuclear weapons, have a space program, etc. you have already crossed the line...?
-- I was just using the common rhetoric
-- my bad

If you don't like the color that the bulbs put out - put in a skylight :-)
I don't think they needed electricity to survive in the "stone age", only enough heat to keep them from freezing to death.
-- my WINTER heating bill is only $30 a month
-- I can't cut down any more than that
Nowadays people think they will freeze to death at 60 degrees. If you're cold - put on a jacket.
I think the idea is to cut back on our energy use - over all.
-- we need heat
-- I do not use air conditioning in the summer, but if the temp gets above 85, I do use a swamp cooler
-- and I do not have a lawn, so I do save tons of water
-- I also empty the washing machine, which uses only cold water, into the rose garden, even though the idiots have made that illegal, as if gray water would pollute my rose garden!
-- I use "green" detergents
~~~
The washing machine water is BS tho - it's not like you're going to eat them. Good for you for at least having plumbed it that way
-- I usually settle for somewhere between 40 and 50
~~~
-- it's illegal to toss them out in the regular trash, as they are classified as toxic waste
-- but I already bought the darn things before I knew that
-- and some of the other new measures that are either recommended or required are equally idiotic

-- it's all about control
