Could US Navy Seals Court Martial Be A Reality?

How can the military expect members to do their jobs if they have to worry about this kind of politically correct (PC) nonsense. It is just like the Army allowing a recent member to wear his head turban. I'm sorry. We are in the UNITED STATES military. Stop all the PC dogma. These seals should not even have to choose a non-juditial vs. juditial! They should be given a medal for their valor and continue doing what they do. I think that it is time for military members to stop putting up with this kind of thing. Really? We have to read rights to unlawful combatants? Really? We have to wait for approval before we blow up a downed humvee, standing out on the side of the road for 4 hours. waiting to get shot at? It is time that we stand up and say....sorry!!! We are the United States Military and we are going to do what we have to do to get the job done! We arent goint to penalize our military members because a susected terrorist got a fat lip. Dont even get me started on the Abr Ghraib fiasco. I vote for a group called Servicemen Against Facist Extremist- S.A.F.E., lobby against the kind of PC errors that led to the terrorist incident at Ft Hood. Why is leadership letting this kind of thing happen. These leaders should have said...NO! They did what they had to do to get the job done. Case closed. Like it or lump it. Move on. I, personally, I going to write a letter to the military member who chose to take these 3 brave seals down this road. I am also going to write to the Army leadership that said someone could wear a turban. This is incredible. I for one am going to make my voice heard. It is really time to stop the madness!!!

I could not agree with you more Carolyn. These guys should be treated as the heroes they are, not being court martialed. We tie the hands of those who risk their lives to protect us! Who comes up with this insanity? Who makes these laws? We are growing so weak we cannot even protect ourselves and have to coddle terrorists. I am angry, this is too absurb to even imagine.

These young men are the heroes the politicos including obama, holder, jones, mullen and gates are worthless pantywastes. My son just returned from Helmand Province, A-stan last week after 7 months in a Marine rifle platoon. He called me this morning after hearing the news and is angry, disgusted, depressed and bitter with this govt and this just pushed him over the edge. He can't believe it!!! What the hell is going on with these worthless communist taitors???????????

I cant understand why anyone would wont to be in the military at this time, the Obama Administration has gone to far and i can only hope that the president will put a stop to the court martial . Obama spends to much time trashing God and makeing us look weak all around the world. This president is worthless, God bless our seals.

I am sitting here, trying to keep my cool. Wanting to comment on this tragic story, not in anger, but with honesty and integrity. Which are two attributes that I find lacking in the current U.S. Government and sadly, in the command structure within the U.S. Military. This situation, that I find currently being exhibited across the United States, is a malignant cancer. It started years ago, but that is another story that has been written many times by many different people. Who then were attacked by the cancer pool of Progressive / Communist / Socialist / Marxist that now are putting our Military men and women in jeopardy, and causing needless deaths in our Military and beyond.
A fine example of the Progressive / Communist cancer was on display recently, at Ft Hood, Texas. The President of our United States, will not label the murderer, Hasan, what he clearly is: MUSLIM TERRORIST. He (Obama) claims we need to get all the facts. Sounds like, we are being put off like Gen McCrystal. How many meetings, conference calls, poll readings, tea leaves, or visits by that anti-American Andy Stern will it take for Obama to understand ? I understand. For instance, if I am in a public place and hear someone scream, “Allahu Akbar” ! I will immediately look for a Muslim to kill with my bare hands, or his own weapon. Without hesitation. Also, I might add at this time, without thinking about being insensitive towards a supposedly Peaceful Religion. I also, would not be thinking of sitting down with this Muslim Terrorist to talk of the transgressions he has suffered during President Bush's administration and what I may do to serve his desire to KILL THE INFIDELS. Where was Obama's caution regarding the Gates arrest in Cambridge ? He acted swiftly to condemn the arrest. That act all by itself told me, that Obama is no different than any other race hustler / pimp, such as the well known Sharpton / Jackson duo who reign supreme in the RaceBait Extortion Industry. I am ashamed that the Office of The President of the United States is held by a man who is a disgrace to the ideals of a once proud country. This is just a small part of the travesty going on. Maybe we could keep our comments to the story which is about Seals who are facing a court martial because they are accused of beating a suspect in their custody. This is not a story about our political climate, our current president, and or Al Sharpton and id like to keep the comments ON TOPIC. Though we are all entitled to out opinions about our current president, lets stay on the actual topic shall well. I don't want to remove comments because they are not at all related to the story that i posted.

Now with that being said, would any of you feel any different, if say 3 NY cops were accused of beating a suspect in their custody? Where they risked losing the "collar" and risked a suspect being let go, because they acted out of turn and broke the law they swore to uphold themselves. Or do you feel that Navy Seals are somehow granted special privileges because they are in the military.

I personally think our military should be held to a higher standard not a lower one.... but hey maybe thats just me.

They're soldiers... SEALS, at war, not civilian police officers trained and paid to defend the public. I think this all goes too far myself.

Spoke with a father (ex marine) today over Thanksgiving about his son who is over in A-stan...kid called his dad today totally disgusted and in a state of disbelief. Dad said he had not heard his son so upset since 911. He is really worried about what this is doing to the morale of our fighting men and women and the consequences. Kid, (he's actually 23+) kept saying I just can't @#$%^&* believe whats happening...

My sincere hope is the publicity of 3 heroes going before a court-martial will bring this issue into stark relief for every American.

I'm not a military man nor come from a military family but why can't a member of Congress put forward a recommendation for the Congressional Medal of Honor to be bestowed to these Seals and their team for capturing (alive) one of the world's most wanted?

I guess the very sad lesson that is being learned by special forces in Norfolk and the rank and file military around the world is that, 'dead men tell no tales.'

Maybe the "lesson learned" should be there are consequences for your actions and that includes Navy Seals. It was a military investigation that found evidence of abuse and pushed the process forward.

Your suggestion that "rank and file military" kill people in their custody is just plain repugnant.

The straight line drawn thru the dots in my comment does go to Obama and the political climate he promotes by his actions which expose his beliefs. Diversity which the U.S.NAVY “now” lists as its #1 priority. Replacing, protecting it's members, is a direct result of Obama being elected and requiring it to be implemented. With that, comes a “pass” to any minority being able to push the envelope of safety, discipline, attitude, etc. The result of this is now being exhibited. So, to me everything within my comment, was needed to express a complete stand alone comment, with some current examples woven in, to back it up. I do understand many comparisons may be made to show me that I went a long way from the original article. But to me, all of the comment connected to the article. Certain people will not like what I wrote. That's for sure. To them, I could say, “you will someday understand, grasshopper”. But, I won't.

Nova, clearly some of the thinking in the chain of command in our military (beginning with George Bush), and in American political leadership today, is that a dirt bag terrorist suspect in a war zone is given the same (or similar) rights as an American citizen. We are seeing this played out in many venues, but I will stick to the topic at hand, the Seals.

Killing people in custody is repugnant and is not my implication. My implication is that we are at war. We are all human beings who learn from our peers. Do you really think that the next time there is a clandestine snatch and grab operation that somewhere in the back of the mind of our young professionals they won't consider executing a terrorist who is resisting vs. being brought up on charges? The 'eating our own' mentality is dangerous to our men and women in war zones and dangerous to the terrorists.

I guess, that's my bias.

Why is the choice to kill the suspect because I cant "rough" them up? Do i think some people might consider killing suspects in their custody? Sure. So i hope that the training people receive will prevent them from abusing their positions of authority from beating a suspect in their custody, all they way down the line to prevent them from killing them because they are not allowed to beat them. If their training fails them i would hope that consequences for their actions such as being brought up on charges will prevent people from abusing their positions, taking the law into their own hands and breaking their own military code.

Capturing a terrorist suspect is doing their job. Beating a suspect in custody is not. Regardless of how much of a vile a dirt bag he is.

I was indignant when the news about this outrageous event broke out, and felt desperate because I had no place to voice my disgust of this and innumerable other things happening in this country. I am glad to see there are people who feel so strongly about it as I do

It is so ridiculous and unbelievable that our system and "leaders" punish the heroes and reward the villains—murderers, rapists, financial criminals, and terrorists. Good people are forever victims. Why is it? Why should we bring the 911 terrorists to lower Manhattan to be trialed in a civil court, to allow him to have the most powerful attorney (I believe it will.) to permit him to accuse our country and then because they were being pressured during the interrogation all their confessions cannot be used as evidence? In the end they will be set free (I believe that will happen.) On the other hand we put our navy SEALS who have done a great job in catching terrorists on trial in military tribunal. This just does not make any sense. What message does these send to our enemy? I don't think this type of thing would happen in another country.
