Obama Haters: Ease Up Will You?
First, I am not a political person. I vote for the person, NOT the party, and I did NOT vote for President Obama.
Having said that, I must say that, no, I did not want Obama to win the election, but I wasn’t thrilled with McCain either. I am a registered Republican but my party can’t seem to get it together and get a great candidate to lead my party so I have voted Democrat in several elections in the past.
I believe that we should support our President as best we can. Give him a chance and make a change in 4 years if we’re unhappy. I think he’s making mistakes but don’t all of our elected officials?
The “Obama haters” are loud and irrational on some things. For instance, an older family member is in her eighties and listens either to religious TV stations (FOX in particular) or talk radio, sometimes a movie channel or two. Mostly talk radio all day long...Rush Limbaugh included.
Yesterday I was trying to explain the digital box we now need to lease if we want certain TV stations. I hate it, she hates it and we know it will cost more than we want to pay. She’s in a different city but her cable company will be taking away The Weather Channel, AMC and TRU-TV next month without the digital box. I told her that I’m sure more & more TV stations will be going digital and we’ll need these devices to receive all stations. I tried to make a joke about some people thinking that these boxes are getting us closer to “Big Brother” watching us.
Suddenly she hisses: “It’s all Obama’s fault!” “He’s responsible for this digital switch. He’s making us pay for it…we didn’t need this” Blah, blah, blah. I stopped listening once the first line was delivered.
It’s just the latest rant against Obama, I’ve heard from her. I try to explain that I’m “a-political” and don’t want to hear the latest accusation from talk radio but she usually goes on & on…I can’t believe what the critics are pinning on Obama and all about his hidden agendas. It frightens me because some of this is downright bizarre…yet, she believes it. She seems to thrive on it.
Does anyone remember just before the year 2000, when Clinton haters were totally believing that everything would go ca-flooey on December 31st and Clinton was planning on calling martial law into effect so he could become king, or dictator or some sort of all knowing, all omnipotant being, and take over the country?
I had 2 rational people telling me this one Thanksgiving in 1999. Obviously, they both heard it on some radio stations. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or head for the hills-away from them! They were adamant. They believed it would happen. It was a Clinton thing-they hated him that much.
If I listened to only one TV or radio station with news and talk/opinion type programming I guess I’d be ranting about this stuff too. But c’mon, is everything happening in the world Obama’s fault? If I get a paper cut and it gets infected and I go to the ER, where I have to wait for 6 hours to get treated, shall I blame Obama? Honestly, my relative would. I am 100% sure of that.
I have a client the same age as my relative and I try very hard NOT to mention anything that gets him started on Obama as well. He goes off about the downfall of the country, all Obama’s fault, of course. He gets so loud and angry that I’m afraid he’ll keel over.
I don’t think it’s prejudice, it could be, but more likely the dems against the republican thing. I’m not sure. Maybe we weren’t really ready for a black president.
I will say that the way some people were talking about President Obama when he was running for office and then elected, it was almost like he was the second coming of Christ, they were just setting themselves up for disappointment.
He’s just a man, and I believe he’s trying to do the right things, but just like all other dedicated elected officials, he just can’t do everything he promised in 100 days, or a year or even 4 years.
There’s a learning curve to all jobs, no matter how much training you've had or who your assistants and cabinet members are. How many times have you started a new job and hated it or thought you couldn't do it even though you had the knowledge and training...and then within a week or two you settled in and started learning the office routine? The President's job is a pressure cooker and there's a lot of protocol to learn.
All Obama can do is his best. He WILL make mistakes.
Instead of ranting & raving about something Obama supposedly said or did just because some 'talking head' reported it on the TV or radio, these folks should be focusing on finding all sides of the news, ease up on the unreasonable criticism and make your choices at the next election.
Focus on the real tangible decisions that Obama is making, talk to me about reality, frankly it's bad enough that you don't have to blame everything from the switch to digital TV to Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme-the outlandish stories just shoot down your credibility with me.
Our country elected Obama and you can write or call your local elected representatives to voice your opinions. Do it in a calm and reasonable manner though, or you’ll be thought of as a crackpot and probably ignored.
I know my relative gets so upset about the garbage she hears on biased talk radio that I refuse to hear the latest rhetoric from her. It riles her up to the point where EVERYTHING becomes President Obama’s fault, and I know that’s just not so.
Okay, that’s about as political as I will get. I worry about what direction the country is headed in, but he’s the president, I’ll call or write my congressman after I understand BOTH sides of the problem and see if we get a candidate next time that I can trust and support to have the best interest of country as his (or her) goals.
It’s a crapshoot anyway, isn’t it?

I remember that Clinton marshall law rumor. My brother believed it! He heard it on some
religious radio station. I laughed in his face when he told me!
As to the 'everything wrong with this country is Obama's fault' line of reasoning, I remember thinking the same thing about the 'El Nino/El Nina' weather phenomenon. For a while there, EVERYTHING was blamed on El Nino....I was in advertising at the time and it became something of a house joke to start a catfight over nothing and then blame it all on the weather patterns.
Sadly, it just seems human nature to hunt for someone to blame--and the Internet puts it in everyone's face where before we weren't exposed to it constantly.
At my job, when anyone left their employment, the rest of us blamed everything that went wrong on them. It was an office joke.
Blame has to go somewhere.
This seems to be a common tactic to ensure the job security of those who still work there....some even keep a list of things to be accounted for and start whispering about who was 'really at fault' right after notice is turned in. Blackens the reputation of the person leaving and makes it unlikely they might be able to return in future....sigh. Very ugly.
ha ha ha
stupid
Thanks for reading AND commenting!
Not to mention Afghanistan and Iraq, and Guantanamo and home forclosures.
Obama a right wing Democrat.
That is OK with me, but what I think I am starting to discern in him is that he only knows how to work with things political, ie. all about talk and bargaining and the pragmatic use of power. I do think Obama has a scientific mind at all, as do not most of our Presidents or politicians.
Scientists and engineers are very underrepresented in government. Obama does not understand some of the more critical concepts of how things change over time technologically, nor the demographics of change and economics.
But it took Obama 5 days to make any comment regarding the Christmas day Delta plane terrorist. There's a lack of figuring out what the priorities are. A cop & a homeowner have words and Obama gets them over to the White House, but he doesn't respond for days when the country is almost a victim of a terrorist. If he's having a tough time on stuff like this, is he making good decisions behind the scenes?
His advisors were picked for the wrong reasons. He IS hated-trust me my mom and her generation are blaming him for everything that goes wrong, and he isn't doing a good job. He should've chosen better cabinet members maybe instead of politically correct, maybe a wider range of economists, scientists, social thinkers and REAL people.
I worry that if something like 9/11 happened again on his watch, he would be frozen with indecision and then do something really stupid. His words won't help then, nor would having a beer on the White House lawn with our enemies.
