Natalie got engaged!!! Her boyfriend, Anthony, proposed to her right outside our front door and gave her this gorgeous ring!
One problem though. She's only 15 and will be turning 16, next month and Anthony, just recently, turned 18. We think she's too young to be engaged and we told her so. She started crying because she thinks we aren't happy for her. We told her that we're very happy for her, but, we think she's too young.
We explained to her that we love Anthony and we think he's good for her and by no means is this any reflection on him. We're hosting a barbeque on Saturday and we've invited him. This will be the perfect time to talk to him and explain that Natalie needs to focus on school. We believe that he will wait for her 2 more years and we hope he understands why Natalie needs to return the engagement ring to him for safekeeping. 2 years will fly by quickly and then they can begin to think about wedding plans.
Anway, this how we feel about it.

But yes, let's wait. if it's really love, and teens always love more passionately, then in 2 years they'll still love eachother just as much and it won't matter if they wait.
You're a great mom w/ a great head on your shoulders, I hope she'll listen.
Yes, this is what we told her, too! She's a little disappointed, but, I think she understands and we hope Anthony will understand, too. Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs to all of you on this thanksgiving day.
Thank you for the hugs and Happy Thanksgiving! *HUGS*
I do believe that you are a great Mom for looking after Natalie's best interests. Other parents might have just been happy to have their child get married and out of their homes. I know you know the type.
I do believe that Anthonly will be sad but he will grow to understand and wait IF his love is true.
Good luck hon!
