Poem for a friend who lost her mother 5 years...

She slurs her words as if

she just smoked up

or drank too much.

Her mother smoked pot

and worse

during her pregnancy.

And now my friend

must pay.

She must live

with the loss

of her mother

and the pain

and the wish

to die too.

I share the agony,

the will to

just give up...

and yet,

life goes on.
