Gobbledy Gooker returns to WWE Raw!

Tonight the Gobbledy Gooker character made a special reappearance on WWE's Thanksgiving episode of Monday Night Raw 11.23.09. Gobbledy Gooker is a giant turkey character last seen 19 years ago. It originally hatched out of a giant egg at the 1999 Survivor Series. Speculation had gone on for months on the WWF/WWE TV programs about what was inside that egg. At the Pay-Per-View event it was revealed as a crazy Thanksgiving turkey who got in the ring to dance with announcer Mean Gene Okerlund. At the time fans weren't crazy about the idea, but it's become part of WWE history. It was revealed that Hector Guerrero was the one in the costume. He reappeared at Wrestlemania X-7 as part of a Gimmick characters Battle Royal wearing a different version of the original outfit. Gobbledy Gooker was the second one eliminated in that match. Guerrero, who played the role both times also worked with WCW and TNA wrestling for his career.

On the Monday November 23, 2009 episode of Raw on USA, the Gobbledy Gooker was introduced as the special timekeeper for the WWE Divas Mayflower Melee match. That match had divas Kelly Kelly, Melina & Mickie James facing Michelle McCool, Layla & Jillian. One team was dressed as Pilgrims while the other was Indians. In the end, Melina was able to get a pinfall on Jillian, after Jillian's teammates (Michelle & Layla) left the ring.

Post match, Jerry the King Lawler got into the ring to interview Melina about the victory. The Gobbledy Gooker got in the ring as well to strut around, but soon revealed its true nature. Under the mask and costume was WWE Diva Maryse, who had been MIA from WWE for months. Last seen in July, she was apparently depressed about losing the divas title and left WWE. Tonight she re-surfaced and used the Gobbledy Gooker costume to sneak attack Melina, making it known that Maryse is back and wants the top diva spot.
