Despite the lack of evidence of some sort of conspiracy in the scientific community, this criminal activity has created fodder for right-wing groups and websites to promote their own agenda that global warming is not real. This comes at a time when international attention is more and more focused on the climate crisis in advance of the UN climate talks in Copenhagen in December.
Hundreds of emails related to global warming were hacked from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University in the United Kingdom recently and they're causing a firestorm for those interested in the topic of climate change.
Global warming deniers claim the documents suggest that scientists are pushing an "agenda" that humans are responsible for global warming.
In the hundreds of emails that were stolen and have been taken out of context, there isn't actual evidence of such a plot.

This is the one thing that is getting to me. These right-wingers are okaying the spread of the email and the gossip behind it, but forget one major point...It was a criminal act!
Of course, now they will defend the rights of the criminals saying it is the right of the public and blah blah...but of course, if it was someone from the other party, they would want that person to be hung up to dry and he/she would be a criminal against the US.
Call it want you want, I call it double standards. Ok for them to steal and hack into major computer systems, but they are the good guys.

Now if it was their computer that got hacked and they lost bank accounts, identities ect. they be whining and crying.

What if your loving hacker decided to hack into more govermental computers and got hold of your security number and started to screw with your real life....but because he already did something that you deem alright, it is ok for him to do this.

The larger point is that the released data which cats a bad light on the climate community should definitely by analyzed. The actions of statistically tweaking datasets, removing emails so that freedom of Information requests can't get at them, refusing to share data, and taking actions to deny opposing views publication in journals are improper at least and may be crimes of spirit if not of letter.
Surely you are not saying that these emails/data should not be made public (assuming any illegal acts are punished) in spite of the fact that the world is running lemming-like off a cliff based on false conclusions that this information highlights?

I always found it to be plain unbelievable how so many people could fall for such a ridiculous tale, of how we are all going to die as a result of man made climate change' especially when it is impossible for man to make it rain- change weather patterns- or even predict it most of the time.

In fact, I think most of this global warming is over the top..yes, bits and pieces are true, with all the pollution, jetstream stuff, hazard waste being dumped into our oceans and on and on...yes, tht does have an effect...but not alot of the scaremonging going on.
