In a 60-39 vote today, the Senate has voted to debate the Health Care Bill after the Thanksgiving holiday. The Senate vote on the health care bill comes after weeks of deliberation and much media coverage and controversy. The 60 votes attained by Senate democrats was the exact number needed to bring the bill to the floor.
This is a huge victory for Senator Reid, the White House, and health care reform supporters alike. This historic vote has the country one step closer to health care reform and extending coverage to millions of uninsured Americans across the nation. There is and will continue to be much misinformation spread by those against reform and I expect democrats and republicans alike will be campaigning fervently to spread their views.

Read the bill for yourself if you distrust the politicians!

However Teddy Roosevelt was an ardent friend of taxing the Wealthy People and of Compulsory Health Care. He also thought that regulation of corporations was essential.
Studying History, we can see the special economic interests that have been an obstacle to progress in Social Legislation.
However Mr Obama and the Democrats should be humble and ready for compromise. It is necessary to avoid partisanship and to be ready to cede some points.
If Mr Obama loses the next elections of 2010 and 2012 then everything is lost. It is necessary to conquer the moderates and independents.
Humility, Flexibility and some concessions are better than arrogance and pride.
I try to develop those points here :

Unfortunately, Vincente, the Republicans aren't interested in compromise. Compromise to them means killing the bill and keeping the status quo. The bill has already adopted several Republican points (such as the stronger language regarding abortion and illegal immigrants). But nothing is enough.
BTW - A new health program is supposed to keep anyone from going bankrupt from medical bills. So if the one on the floor exceeds Omama's criteria, and causes more taxes, it will happen because the government is assuming the cost that has been ruining families. What we pay in added taxes will be protection from unexpected medical catastrophe that might strike us as individuals.
