In what Marv Albert originally thought was some sort of joke or skit, he was part of a brawl involving rapper 50 Cent's entourage backstage at the Jimmy Kimmel show. The Marv Albert 50 Cent crew battle broke out as both the rapper and sportscaster were scheduled guests for Kimmel's late night show on ABC this past Wednesday November 18, 2009.
So what went awry? Apparently when Marv Albert showed up to the building, he was greeted with an ice cold hostile reception by 50 Cent's crew. They didn't recognize the sports broadcaster and thought he was trying to infringe on 50's interview. From there the expletives started flying as did fists. Even after staff from the Kimmel show identified Albert to 50's group, they remained unimpressed. Luckily for Marv he escaped it all unharmed, but was certainly shocked and surprised by the mayhem.
According to MTV.com, Albert was quoted as saying "Did you see that? I thought they were kidding, then I realized they weren't." The Marv Albert 50 Cent posse fight backstage was in fact real. That wasn't a Jimmy Kimmel skit or some sort of dis Matt Damon style. More details on the incident here
