Have you seen the Twilight New Moon movie yet? The latest Hollywood vampire film has already broken a box office sales record for its opening night midnight shows. According to news reports including NYDailyNews, the latest installment in the popular Twilight Saga has officially broken the record held by "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". New Moon opening night sales earned approximately $26.27 million in 3,514 theaters across the US giving it an average of $7,476 per theater for its midnight screenings.
The Harry Potter movie made $22.2 million total for its July 15th midnight openings across the country. Meanwhile, "The Dark Knight" comes in third with $18.5 million back in 2008 for its late night openings.
Beyond New Moon's opening night sales, it should continue to bring in the money over the weekend as eager fans rush out to catch the latest fantasy-romance movie involving Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. The only question is where will it stand compared to other all-time heavyweight box office champs?
