November 20: Mario McNeill has been charged with kidnapping, murder, and rape in the Shaniya Davis case. Autopsy results show 5-year-old Shaniya died as a result of asphyxiation. Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, has been charged with human trafficking, child abuse, and child prostitution.

McNeill was shown holding Shaniya in a North Carolina hotel's surveillance video. The two were at the hotel for a little over an hour before they left, at that time Shaniya was still alive. The time on the surveillance video contradicted the time Antoinette Davis gave police of when she last saw her daughter.

After McNeill was arrested, a tip lead authorities to Shaniya's body which was hidden near a make-shift dumping area alongside a highway. There is speculation now that Antoinette Davis gave up her daughter as payment for a drug debt.

In the 5 weeks Shaniya Davis lived with her mother, Antoinette Davis,
child protective services visited Antoinette Davis' home multiple times but they never contacted Shaniya's father.

I wonder why they ever gave the child back to the mother? It's really horrible for that poor little to have gone through what she must have!

It's a tough world to live in. I try to understand people who could do something like this
but have to remember that you can't explain an irrational act.
This story sickens me to the core.

I am not familiar with this horrible crime. Is this another case of child protective services dropping the ball? Not an opinion, just a question.

As a mother of a five-year-old, the thought of killing my child or selling her has never crossed my mind. Human trafficking, where do people get this stuff? How do their minds function? They need to go back to labotomies the way they use to. It's nutty! May they both go to jail and may that little girl's soul rest in peace.
