Project Runway Season 6 Episode 14: FINALE

Project Runway Season 6 Episode 14 is the finale of this season of Runway. THANK GOD! This has been the worst season so far, and I'm glad it's ending (next season is heading back to New York, and to Michael and Nina). Any way, the designers are struggling to finish their collections, especially Carol Hannah, who is in tears over her stomach bug. Meanwhile, the designers have to choose their hair and makeup for the show. Althea's makeup sound shockingly similar to Irina's sure to spark some controversy. Tim calls them out, saying their makeup sounds very similar, and Irina of course puts the blame on Althea, who starts crying. Lots of tears this episode.

The designers are such a mess that the models take forever getting ready for the runway, and Tim freaks out a little bit (though not nearly as much as the teaser commercials would like you to believe). Any way, things happen on time, naturally, and Heidi emerges in a hot pink suit (I realized I must have just seen a photo of her wearing this, when it took place way back in 2008...yeah it took that long to resolve legal issues for this show to air).

Althea's line is all leather, creamy colors, big sweaters, and harem pants. Just what you would expect from her. It looks very wearable...which is to say you could see it sold at H&M...which is to say Runway has gone so majorly downhill this season. But I do have to say, I loved the cream colored, skin tight gown on Tanesha (and yes, you did spot past America's Next Top Model winner Jaslene in there).

Carol Hannah's collection had a bit more dramatic flair, although I do have to say she should stick to dresses...always. That purple tunic with the ropes hanging off it, paired with black pants, was beyond mall. There's a lot of satin, draping, turqouises and deep purples. Nothing truly innovative (except for a turqouise cape paired with shorts), but pretty nonetheless. The gold gown on her model, Lisa, was pure Carol Hannah fairytale drama.

Irina's collection is almost all black, which many people have told her to avoid. But Christian Siriano did the same thing and no one had a problem with that. It's pretty fierce, to use Christian's word. Leather, big sweaters, innnovative textures, leggings, awesome hats Roman riding hats. By far the most interesting and different of the collections. This is my favorite stuff that Irina's done all season. Are we to honestly believe the commentators back stage who say this is the best group of designers ever? Please. Right now, I'm calling that Irina has it in the bag, but we stiill have 27 minutes of deliberation left to go.

At judging, Michael Kors slams Irina for being unoriginal. "We've seen this warrior woman before," he says. Nina questions the decision to use all black, explaining that in editorial or on a screen, you can't see the detail as much. Wow. This isn't going well for Irina. Carol Hannah is criticized for lacking coherence, while Althea is also slightly panned for having too much monotone. Carol Hannah is the first to go, which is expected. Of course they had to pit the competition between the closest thing this season had to a rivalry: Althea and Irina. Could they simply have been criticizing Irina more to make it look like she wasn't going to win, just like on America's Next Top Model? Yes. They do it every time. How predictable. Irina was the best this season, so I'm happy she won. But I disagree thoroughly to her statement that she "had some stiff competition." Alright, now on to New York next season. Let's forget this whole LA mess that was Project Runway Season 6.
