The Panthers shuffled off to their locker room at halftime to a chorus of boos from their fans as the Dolphins vs Panthers Thursday Night Football game has the Dolphins leading at 14 - 6 at halftime. It took awhile for the Dolphins offense to get started but Ricky Williams stepped up and had two touchdowns in the second quarter to give the Dolphins the advantage.
The Carolina offense hasn't been able to get anything going in the first half as they only have a total of 119 yards, with 51 of those yards coming on their opening drive. They were able to take the 3 - 0 lead on that drive but then gained only 68 yards the rest of the half. Thus the reason for hearing the boos as they left the field. They'll have to win those fans back with a strong second half.
Miami on the other hand put two good drives together in the second quarter, the first which ended on a short pass to Ricky Williams which ended with him in the end zone 14 yards later, giving his team a 7 - 3 lead with 4:04 left in the half. The Dolphins quickly got the ball back one minute later after the Panthers went three and out. Miami took advantage of a short 34 yard punt and got great field advantage with a 22 yard return. Set up at the Panthers 29 yard line the Dolphins were able to punch another touchdown in before the half with a direct snap to Williams for a one yard touchdown run.
The touchdown gave the Dolphins the 14 - 3 lead and the Panthers need to find a solution to their offensive struggles with some halftime adjustments if they want to pull the comeback in this one. They need this game to move to .500 again and stay alive in their division. A win by Miami will pull them within one and a half games of the AFC East division leading Patriots.
