Yes, I know that it sounds as if it was just another bad plot for a new Sci-Fi movie, but is not.  Not long ago I was scrolling down the news sections on the Anime News Network site when I stumbled into an article about the best selling album in Japan. Since I didn’t have anything better to do with my life, and also just because of curiosity; I clicked on the link that was offered in the article. To my surprise it directed me to a Japanese website (like I didn’t expect that). As I clicked enter on the site a a video began to load and play, and suddenly I hear this blast of music accompanied by a voice that could be called the female version of the chipmunks.  The song was very catchy even though I did not understand a single word of it. And so the song was stuck in my head for about two days, until I gave in and decided to search for it on YouTube.  When I finally found the song I could not stop playing it, then I searched for the “artist†or “performer,†I thought at first VOCALOID was the name of the group or band, but then my mind got blown away when I started to read the commentaries on each video. VOCALOID is a computer program in which you can use to make your own song, by just writing the lyrics and plugging in a melody. Since I wanted to make sure of this I went to my good old friend Wikipedia, and you know what Wikipedia stated? “Vocaloid is singing synthesizer application software developed by the Yamaha Corporation that enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody†(Wikipedia). So yeah…there you have it a computer program that can sing just for you! Except that the majority of the voices they have speak only Japanese, there are some that sing in English but I haven’t heard them so I don’t really know how good they are. Overall I think this only just proves only more how awesome the japanese are.
So far these are my favorite songs
Meltdown by Hatsune Miku (This is the song that was stuck in my head for a long time)

Kokoro by Rin Kagamine or by Len Kagamine (a sad song yet with a very upbeat melody)

World is Mine by Kaito or Hatsune Miku ( A very cute song about love)
