oh dandilion

 

 

 

 

how silly you are

for you are bold like me

you are small and bright

and always growing

Thankyou Carol! These photos came about two years ago. The poem was written by a student almost twenty years ago. I took the pictures when I saw these dandilions that were still alive in early Dec. and they took me back to this poem that Jen wrote. Jen is a keeper, a survivior!

Very nice, thanks for sharing this with us. Sometimes, it's the dandilions that survive when the mighty oaks topple over in a storm... something to really think about...

The pictures are beautiful and dandelions are my thing, write about them all the time, have them up on the dandelion moon, I imagine the poem is lovely too, but can't read the yellow print, guess it is my computer screen or old eyes:), take care, love, Elsie

Thankyou so much Dave! When this youngster wrote this, she was talking more of herself than the dandilion. I could relate, as could the rest of the cast, all inner city kids trying to do something with their lives.

Peg, I love it. Dandelions always strike a nostalgic note in us I think. When I was a child I wondered why adults didn't like them. They were so beautiful in the green grass. Besides, it was proof that warm weather was back.
The poems is wonderful. How many people I could share it with. We do have times in our life where we are a little out of our comfortable place.

You are so right!!! I never understood poisoning the little buggers! In my neighborhood that would have been considered a sin!!! We knew summer was uppon us because all the mother's were out there digging for dandilion greens!!! They are food!!!

you are small and bright and always growing
where you were never meant to be.

When I was living in Moscow, I met a beautiful young woman, who from our second encounter, called me,"Timura, my forever dandelion!" Not having the heart to tell her that, to some, this is a weed much despised, I asked her, once, "Why the dandelion?"
She paused for a moment and then, looking puzzled, she said, "I am sorry. But I don't know how to explain this." Then brightening she said, "I only know that you are, Timura, my forever dandelion!"

As loved as I felt by her, I never stopped wondering about the dubious honor of being compared to a dandelion...until now. And my heart and soul, though they miss her terribly, are refreshed anew. Thank you!!! tame
