Sammy Sosa Before and After Bleaching Photos

The internet has been buzzing recently about former MLB All-Star Sammy Sosa.  The Chicago Cubs slugger was recently photographed at the Latin Grammy Awards event along with his wife Sonia Sosa.  The picture circulating on the internet revealed Sosa's skin had become much lighter than it previously was, prompting all kinds of speculations; was the picture a hoax?  Did Sosa have some strange disease?  Or was he simply pulling a Michael Jackson-style transformation?

Apparently, Sosa is undergoing a special skin rejuvenation process which involves skin bleaching.  This procedure causes the skin pigment to become much lighter, but it will eventually return back to normal.  That may end the speculation that Sosa is some freak of nature, although it certainly doesn't clear up any previous rumors that he may have used chemicals to alter physical performances or appearances.
