Before Halloween, my daughter and the kids gathered together in our backyard at the picnic table and had a pumpkin carving "party." The four year old needed quite a lot of help but he loved it, all those gooey seeds inside that had to be scooped out. LOL

It's funny how the gooey insides of a pumpkin affected the different kids. The oldest and the youngest didn't mind scooping them out at all but the middle boy thought is was uber disgusting and hated touching them.

We had a pumpkin carving kit that amazingly enough, came in a toy grab bag my mother had bought for us at the thrift store so we didn't even have to buy one. Good for the budget, ya know?

All the kids were busy, busy, busy. DeeDee, Carleen's daughter was with us that weekend. She's on the swing.

My adult daughter created a pumpkin carving of the face of Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas, which is one of her favorite movies.

After working on their pumpkins, the youngest two boys drew pictures, something they do all the time because they love to draw.

"Grandma, look at the picture I drew" says my youngest grandson!

The finished pumpkins,
I mean Jack O Lanterns!!

The oldest boy with his creation, all done by him!

The youngest with his Jack O Lantern, that's one happy boy!

We had a great Halloween and the kids and my adult daughter had a good time going to several different Halloween functions that Bakersfield does every year, not to mention our own budget friendly Halloween party in our backyard and then trick or treating.
I even dressed up as Dora the Explorer! I chose her because I already had all the stuff for the costume and only spent $1.00 on yellow tights for my ankles. I wrote an article on how I created the costume over at AC here if you want to check it out.
All in all, this Halloween gets a
big thumbs up from all of us in Wilsonville!
