Where is everyone?

a lot of people are confused by the new feed that could be it
I posted quite a few posts recently!

I'm not sure what is going on but it sure is quiet out there.

Yeah. I do notice that people are commenting fairly enough, but not posting, at least in my friends circle.

Mine also but my views and comments are not quite the same as before the upgrade.

I cant figure out what took the place of Explore... I used to be able to look at peoples articles, other than my connections.. but now all I can find is what is on the feed and that is just not the same...

I've heard other people say something about the Explore page, too.

ya this upgrade has me all screwed up this site keeps getting worse and worse I think they are trying to get rid of us all so they can become a crap site with all those writers they are paying to bring in all those views, we are no longer needed

That would be too bad. Afterall, wasn't this site a place where the "average" writer/photographer/poet/artist could display their work and get rewarded for it?

average has never been very welcome here by some.

I've noticed that too. There seems to be a lot from one or two people, but the numbers are down. Change isn't necessarily progress. I wish Gather weren't so anxious to fix things that 'ain't broke'.

I used to pop over to the Gather home page to check the listed articles and see what the PTBs of Gather were saying. A couple of years ago, articles/images/etc. were listed in sections, so it was easy to find new things to look at. Upgrade, and the articles by topic are gone, and just the articles with the highest page hits are listed, so there's less to find there. Upgrade, and for the life of me, I can't even find the home page any more! "Home" takes me back to my own page, "My Gather" takes me to my page, and even clicking on the "Gather" at the upper left corner takes me to ... my own home page. The only way I can find the "main Gather page" is to sign out, then click on Gather from a Google search. Am I missing some obvious link, or is Gather trying to keep us from going to the main Gather page? Deliberate, or just another upgrade screwup?

I liked the way the Gather pages when I got here, or at least after the first upgrade after that time back in March of 2007.

The answer is simple. Gather is dying.

Even prior to this update, Gather was in a negative spiral...less community, more spam and vacuous content. Gather is now accelerating this with the new design, and the "Socialwrite" program...thus, the flushing sound grows louder.

Oh, and by the way...

I have not been on too much lately, as I have not been feeling well, and today we were away all day.
