I really do enjoy marathon commenting on the posts of my friends yet, every once in a while I find myself sitting staring at the screen trying to find something pertinent, constructive and or helpful to say. Some days all the political posts appear to repeat themselves and it is difficult to find some new comment to a redundant topic. So, when I visit the post of friends who are non-political I find them so cheerful and refreshing that I can become lost in their topics. I have a manageable number of friends and most of my time on line is spent proofreading students' papers and comment on Gather in between.
Have you ever struggled to find something constructive to say to a friend on their post?
I am not interested in snarky, crude and dismissive retorts I am talking about hitting a blank after commenting for hours with friends.

Sometimes I just let them know I was there and don't say much but an "Oh My" (if it all was terrible news).
or whatever
I feel obligated to support my friends!
Thanks Peter!
Guy, I suspect that you are never ever at a loss for words and unaffected by writers block.
:)
I appreciate your honesty.
Thanks Libramoon!
How long do you ponder what your comment will be?
And that is why I posted this, that is my quandary on many an occasion.
:) Thanks!
Thanks! :)
Thanks Linda!
"I can be sarcastic right along with the best but don't feel it accomplishes anything. I just leave."
I wrestle with the sarcasm of others and work at logic and rational yet, the more I see some of the totally over-the-line things the same few people repeat over and over, well, in defense of the topic and often the friends' post I attempt to dumb down the dumb.
If I see that it stimulates them more I know when to close out the obsessively angry.
In the entertainment industry being ignored is the worst thing that can happen. Without publicity or recognition, they cease to exist. LOL!
I will go back to the high road. Already slid off for a bit today. LOL!
If it is someone who bothers to comment on my post, I WILL think of something.
If not, the click to read and a rating do help their points.
But I am beginning to feel a little hard line on this, there is not much reciprocating commenting.
This is not our old gather, So sometimes, I no longer feel obligated to even click and read all my connections posts.
I do try to keep up with the ones who comment on mine.
I guess I am relegated to be a daily marathon commenter! :)
I believe we are friends through photos and nature! :)
Calming the soul, pets and nature are a blessing.
"Have you ever struggled to find something constructive to say to a friend on their post?"
Absolutely. My time in the community is often very limited, and therefore I typically can only comment on a fraction of the content I'm interested in. However, even being selective doesn't help at times, as I occasionally will struggle to capture the 'right' thought to express my views or feelings about a topic.
It is quite difficult to comment on isolated sections within a topic knowing that there are folks who are charting views and ratings. Where will what I say end up? Self aware folk must ask themselves this question in every post. I do.
I just say thanks and :) So that they know at least I stopped by :)
I find commitment to be a challenge at times. :)
Thanks for sharing on this topic, Dreama!
