When I left the dentist office on Wednesday I was feeling relief from my broken tooth being pulled, plus the fact that I was on anesthesia and the entire left side of my face was perfectly numb. As the anesthesia wore off, I realized that the healing process was not going to be pretty.
My tooth had broken in three different places, so the dentist had to cut the gums to get in there and dig out the roots. I know, it makes me cringe in pain just thinking about it. In the process of digging around, he knocked off the crown in my very back tooth. I left the dentist office with a presciption for antibiotics and nothing more. I am in recovery for several years now for substance abuse and I refuse to take any pain medicine, with the exception of Ibuprofin in large quanities. Just a personal choice, but a very dumb one.
I did all the things that I wasn't supposed to do. I smoked cigerettes, I lifted small children, and bags of groceries, and I didn't get much rest for the first 24 hours like the paper said. I developed the monster from hell...........DRYSOCKETS. Now....I have had two childbirths and the pain in my tooth yesterday and this morning topped the charts.
My Mom and Dad were in a neighboring town at a motel, due to a conference for her work. They called out of the blue yesterday and decided to take Maddie and Aidan to the motel to swim and spend the night. The kids are having a ball. They get to swim in a indoor heated pool and go out to eat with Nana and Papa. I think God had a special angel watching over me, when he gave Lenny and I those two wonderful people for grandparents. I can only hope one day to strive to be as generous and loving people as they are. They saved the day. I called the emergency number to the dentist and no one has ever returned my call. I was about to go through the roof in pain. It felt like glass firecrackers were gouging me in the left side of my jaw and shooting throughout my face.
I spent the day in bed today sleeping while my husband, bless his heart, did all the yard work, and housework. I am finally up and the pain is lessening. I am such a wimp when it comes to pain, however, I think I made it through. The kids will be arriving home soon, and I can't wait to give them big hugs and kisses.

I wish teeth would just last your whole life and noboby would have to mess with them.
The kid is facing $2,000 to $3,000 in dental work......has to have FIVE teeth pulled, then he get's a partial for the one tooth on the upper side.........I kept warning him that the 24 packs of Mountain Dew (one a week) would do him in, and he'd pay for it in the long run, but then what do moms know?!!!!!!
Anyhow, sure hope you feel lots better soon........I think teeth can cause a heck of a lot more pain than almost any physical illness.
The kids will be home soon and their little smiling faces will make me forget all about it.
I'm glad you got a little break and that you're starting to feel better :~)
I got some med for the pain and anti botioic for the boils, I woke up the day after my dad funeral with a bump inside my mouth size of a gaint gum ball,,,
