Alright, Remembrance Day (Canadian Memorial Day) is five days from now (Nov. 11). They began selling poppies on the first. I bought three on that day because I wanted an extra when mine disintegrated.
I was downtown this morning and I saw that 90% of everyone down there were also wearing poppies; from 18 to 80 years old. It's just something we do.
I lived in Atlanta in 1996 when the Olympics were supposed to be there. I fortunately found a job in Ft. Lauderdale before they began and got out of Dodge.
We have a year before they begin the Vancouver Olympics. Because of the pride they show daily in their athletes, I am fully aware of almost all of them. This never happened in the U.S.
Where is the line between real pride and government propaganda? Up here, the slogan is "Do you believe?" In Atlanta, they had no slogan, it was assumed that America would dominate...
I don't think that's going to happen this year. America has never really supported it's Olympic athletes. They just expect them to win so that the country looks good.
I have never been excited about any sporting event, much less the Olympics...until now. Canada has everyone totally up about Vancouver 2010.

It is true our olympic athletes are ignored until they get a gold.
