Actually, my husband is a union trucker (32 years)....we've always had free insurance.......all we've ever had to pay has been a small "co pay" (something like $10 or so for doctor's visits)..........he's afraid that we are going to use this union insurance........I've no idea. I don't go to any doctors at any time or use any kinds of prescription meds.
I fear for our 22 year old college age son, who has NO insurance...he only works part time/seasonal at the cemetery and is studying computer programming in college.......am scared we are going to get stuck having to pay for his insurance, and here we are, "supposedly" getting ready to retire!!!

His union's better than my neighbor's then... for him and his wife to have that kind of coverage is about $6500 for the next quarter, and goes up to 7 grand after that... up & up & up. Free is never free... somebody pays for it, you can be sure of that.

Oh my gosh, that is just AWFUL......and for union insurance........what union is it? We've got ours through the Teamsters..........when hubby retires, I think we will have to pay $100 a month for each of us to continue with the coverage we now have.

I think it's called IATZE? He's a union stagehand.

Obama is giving letting you keep your freedom! Socialism is only something that people who do not want to follow the rules use to avoid the real problem. It is called a deterent & if you can't solve the problem then please do not be part of the problem.

They won't call it that, because that would violate our rights, dontcha know? You're right Marilyn... the more prisons they build the more construction workers will be employed, and pipefitters and electricians, etc. not to mention the prison personnel after it's built. No doubt about that.

Hey, remember when they told us that this health care reform was being done for 2 reasons? To reduce costs and to get everyone covered? Lies, all lies. It's going to cost more - both for doctors and for insurance and it won't cover everyone.


What it will do is totally control our lives.

When are people going to wake up? After it's all over and done with?

If I remember right, the people not subsidized at all starts at $50 thousand, for an individual. So, I would be totally subsidized with only unemployment insurance as income.

I'd go to jail because I can't afford it. So would my husband, so then our children would have to be cared for by relatives, who would also go to jail if they couldn't afford it... so eventually if none of the relatives could afford it the kids would be wards of the State.

Sounds like fascism to me. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Maybe this is what those rumored FEMA camps are for? Imprisoning all of those who can't afford to purchase health insurance when the jails fill up? And I suppose they'll let all the violent criminals out to make room for the civil disobeyers. Right?

I don't think there are jsut six FEMA camps. I had pictures of a big one in WY and general locations of several more 2 years ago and they were allready compliete. Now I'm wondering how many there are. Anyone else remember that discussion?

I don't feel that it is to punish people. It is to make an more even field so that everyone can afford to have insurance. The fines or jail as you so see it are for people who do not want to purchase insurance if they can afford it or not. There are some peole who have money & neglect to buy life insurance their idea is let someone else pay for it. Well you can't take it with you so why not protect yourself. Same thing goes for health insurance if it is proven that it would be more affordable for more people then I say lets do it. I see many people who cannot afford to pay for private health insurance. Then I see people who have more money than they know what to do with & choose not to buy any extra insurance. They want to have the same options that those who have little or no income for health problems. There are people who do not need to have hand outs at the doctors office of free samples for meds but they are the first ones to ask for the samples & they keep asking. The people who really need them are usually not aware that drug companies have programs for low income people & free samples. I know that Obama is not dictating anything to me he is giving others a chance. A chance that could be a matter of life & death. What the problem here is people who have it all are afraid that they may lose something in the process. They are not equal to other humans who may be down on their luck. No one says we have to do any of these things but one thing is change is hard not fascism.

I don't have insurance now. I still see my doctor on a regular basis. (I have a chronic condition) I don't expect anyone else to pay for it.... I pay for it out of my own pocket. I don't want anyone else "in charge" of it. That should be MY OWN choice.

You do have the right to say that you do not have the money, They will have to get you into some program that you can afford to pay so that you will have medical care. If you take care of your bills yourself then why are you making it so hard on yourself when there could be programs out there that can make things easier for you to have more money for your family. These rules are saying if you cannot afford or do not want to pay for your care then you will be fined, but everyone needs to have insurance or a way to pay for their health care or plan.

I don't want some "health board" deciding which doctor I see and when I see him.
These people never met me, why should they get to decide what is right for MY body???
Due to some issues I had in the past, it took me a long time to get to trust my doctor. I finally do and now I will probably lose that choice. When it comes down to it I will probably choose seeing no doctor at all over losing this one. In the long run, that will mean a death sentence for me, and I'm aware of that. But if that is the choices they give me, I will choose the death sentence.

You will not have to change your doctor or the insurance that you have right now. I truly understand wanting to stay with your own doctor. This is just for the insurance compainies to all be on the same page, charge the same for everyone & for the doctors to join 1 plan. This makes it easier for all to obtain insurance & I would never want something that would force me to change my doctors. This is not a welfare program for all Americans. All doctors would be engaged in the insurance.

This has nothing to do with insurance companies, other than slowly putting them out of business. (more jobs gone)

This program will be simaler to medicaid. As one politician said in my state, "run similar to medicaid."
With Medicaid they chose your doctors for you. You have NO SAY in the matter, they tell you who you will have to see and that is who you have to see, there are NO CHOICES.

If you read my current post, you will see I will most likely be put ON medicaid. I would not be able to chose my doctors or hospital. I must go where they tell me to go. I might as well be IN jail, because for me that would be the same thing. I might even get better care as a prisoner.

Especially when those in "power" don't even read it or understand it all. Just like with the stimulus... a while after it was passed they realized the provisions that were made and added for CEO's behind closed doors.
Just the fact that it all has to be pushed through at lightning speed (so that those who would understand it don't even have a chance to see it beforehand) should put up the red flags.

Everyone who wants to can read it & if you are not a fast reader then they have to wait till you get it read & have had time to think it over. I am not talking weeks & weeks but the day should be good. No one can make you say something about a program or sign for a program if they don't understand how it is to work & if they can't show you that they you don't approve it, until you are satisified.

Ummm Tami, they are voting on it now. Where do you think this time for us to read the bill will come from?

You try to read it to make sure that you are not losing what you have already. Then you see how much you have to pay out for it. Listen to what they have to offer you & it has to be equal to or better than what you have and you have to be able to afford it for the year. Then there will be no problems.

You may be okay with that, but most of the rest of us are not.

Most people do not pay premiums they are paid by employers, unions, etc. I ask do you pay for you premiums for health insurance? You cannot be forced to pay for services that you do not get in the time period that you are paying for. One must go into reading something with an open mind to understand all things. Not just look for the words or interpert things to feed what they believe.

Everybody I know has to pay for their premiums. The money is taken out of their paycheck before they even get it.

It is right IN THE BILL that the taxes will be paid AHEAD OF TIME for services that won't start for years.
It doesn't matter how open minded you want to be, it's right there in black and white.

So what about small business owners? If they are paying higher premiums, how do you think that will affect your pay rate?

Don't you count that as part of a pay rate? It should be, if you are given health insurance as opposed to having to pay for your insurance that should be counted in as part of a pay rate.

It's not over, it still has to go through the Senate, we can kill it there. Worse comes to worse if it passes, then challenge it as being unConstitutional. First we need to do is gum up things enough to slow things down, we can kill it if the Senate does not get around to it this year.

yeah, they are trying to push it all through ASAP hoping that Americans forget about it all before next November. I have already written to my Senators and Congressmen telling them whoever votes yes on this crap has lost my families votes.

Isn't if funny that the same people who decided that showing a photo ID is too much trouble and burden to impose on voters, has no problem whatsoever in requiring those same citizens to purchase an outrageous medical insurance plan or go to jail.

I can only imagine things cannot be worse than what we have now for insurance. It's 1,200 a month, 15 co-pays for the doc visit, 20 co-pay for prescriptions (if they are covered). On top of all of that, we have a 5,000 deductible! NOTHING is covered until that has been met.
I do everything I can to stay out of the doctors office; but I have to go whenever I have asthma attacks or my daughter is really ill.
