Lil Missy's Birthday Party

Today is Lil Missy's birthday party! I can't believe she will be turning 8 next week.  Where has time gone?  They years have just flown by.

I feel so bad that her party won't be as elaborate as some of her friends.  I've seen how parents have gone all out for their childs birthday's this year and I kind of feel like a failure as a parent because I won't be giving her an elaborate party.

Again this year, we are having it at the local park.  Cupcakes, drinks, small party favors, and decorating photo frames is what we are doing.  I just didn't have the money to go all out again this year.

I realize I shouldn't compare myself to other parents but I do and it frustrates me that I can't do for our daughter what other parents have done for their kids. 

My friend has a portable printer so she is going to print a picture out of Lil Missy with each of their friends to put in their photo frame as a take home favor.  I thought everyone would like that.  Especially since most of the kids coming would be girls.  (The only boys are cousins and I don't really think they will care.)

It sounds like a great party. My sis in law doesn't do the elaborate parties for my nieces, just has family over. The girls seem very grounded and never seem to be upset that their friends from school aren't there.

Lil Missy did get to invite a couple of her friends but I didn't want a huge crowd/

I think it sounds like it will be a great party. I always had more fun at my parties (where it was just my family and a few close friends of mine, and 1-2 each for my sisters) and my sisters' parties than I did at the big ones anyway.

She seemed to have a great time playing with everyone, except my nephew who she said she felt like she was babysitting! Haha!

Sounds like a fun party to me. I don't see any reason to go all out for a big party. You are not failure! You're a good mom.

It sounds like a good party. My daughter has had 2 parties...and she's 12.....My poor Christopher has only had 1, back when he was in 1st grade. It was a party at home too.

My mom said to me, I don't understand why people have to have birthday parties every year anyways? Not everyone can afford to buy presents and those that can't buy presents feel like they have to stay home. I made sure everyone that was invited to her party knew that they didn't have to bring a present.

It sounds like a fabulous party! I think simpler parties are better anyway. We always plan Elliott's at the church fellowship hall since we have a lot of cousins that attend, but this year my husband wants to do it at Pump Up The Fun. I think it's a huge waste of money, but my husband is as stubborn as can be, and won't listen to me.

I can't wait until we can do a party at the park, but Elliott is a December baby, so it will never be for his birthday...Emory's an August baby, so in a few years, we can do his party outside.

I like the photo idea, that is a very personalized party favor.

Brittney, the party favors were a huge hit. If you can pull it off you should. Even the guys enjoyed doing them. Of course I think they would have liked it better if I would have had more "boy" things to decorate with. :)

Believe it or not but when she is an adult with kids of her own she will not even remember the party itself. She will remember the time you spent with her. Ask my daughters..

I think it sounds like a fun, cute idea. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's just "things" and I think decorating photo frames would be amazing.
