The House of Annon by Mary Bradley McCauley
Power of the Universe
“It is what makes grass grow, rivers run, rain fall, night turn into day.” Mary McCauley’s words.
I started reading this book with the feeling I knew what it was about. As I read more, I found I ‘did’ know something of the subject: Universal Energy, Supreme Being, Divine Being, God, and other names, made for what makes the world tick.
In this day and age, television is constantly on in homes all over the world, bringing negative reports of killings, wars, bad economy and other negative ideas. How does one think positive when surrounded by negative energy and talk? The House of Annon shows us how.
A group gathers, each week for fourteen weeks, led by a man named Annon. He teaches them relaxation, mediation, and visualization, in hopes of learning of their Inner Being. The Gathering group learns a different way to live, a new way, a positive way. They learn they are connected as One.
Mary McCaually, is a wonderful writer, making you feel you are at the gathering, listening, and taking notes of the group’s stories, as they gain more insight to Self. They begin to realize why they act the way they do. They learn from their past, and some from their past lives.
Is this a new age religion book? I'm not sure. In fact it’s not religious at all, but a learning tool. The group discusses hurting people, and how it only hurts you in the long run. They begin to realize as they help each other, that the positive and good is working within each of them, if they would let it happen, and negative thoughts bring you down and stops growth. Only Love can conquer fear and doubt.
Believing in yourself, learning from your mistakes, and seeing the good in others, is the clue. This is the way to true happiness. Everything will come to you, if you believe and trust that the universe works with you and for you. Search your mind, see the negative and find out why it’s there, then replace it with positive thoughts. Doing these exercises helps the group find happiness.
An interesting read. If you want to learn your true Self.

I believe one of the main objectives of the book is to combine New Age Thought with Mainstream Religion, and as you wrote in the review - 'How does one think positive when surrounded by negative energy and talk? The House of Annon shows us how.'
I am pleased that yo found that and could express it here on Gather.
Rest easy
I was very pleased that she got the 'concept' of the novel and felt it was worth promoting.
I think so too. Sometimes I just have to turn off the TV (and the computer) and mentally DETOX! Says a lot about what's out there... we have to take steps to make sure the "out there" does not get "in here".
Congrats on your book, Mary!
And, I don't support that at all.
