Ways to Make Money Fast - Back in the Old Days

As a kid, I was always finding ways to make money fast. I started washing automobiles and figured out at first if instead of using a bucket, I could use a hose and then the cars could get wet faster, which i did and I improved my time. Then I said to myself, maybe I should use 2 wet and dry rugs and rub the auto with both hands. It brought my turn around time down from 15 minutes to just under 10. So I thought , perhaps if I could get an aid and then we could do 2 automobiles in 10 mins, then we could do ten autos in one hour. This entire process of trying to find ways to make money fast in the auto washing business ultimately led me to ask my whole gang of five to wash automobiles for a couple of weeks in the summer. As a teen, we averaged about close to one hundred autos in a day and made around 50 dollars each less expenses, which was not so bad considering that it was in the early 80's too. What I didn't know was a week after that my neighbor's niece, who belonged to this popular sorority made around 5 hundred bucks in one day doing the same we were doing. Naturally, we weren't dressed in bikinis and had friends who helped them for free . Come to consider it, the girls didn't even wash their automobiles but rather just held out automobile wash signs and when things were a bit warm in the day ; their friends just sprayed them with water or threw buckets of water at them too. Come to think of it, some girls weren't even wearing bikini tops but white t shirts. Oh well, as a 12 years old, I liked doing their stint. I actually had my cycle washed by them and paid less than half of what folk with cars paid. The girls even found me cute and gave me a group cuddle. Boy, what service.

Finding ways to make money fast doesn't necessarily always mean fast service, but has other aspects also. Those sorority girls and my neighbor's niece showed me that the quality and delivery of the service are invaluable. Maybe it was their style of service that they were able to charge a higher price or that they were able to get a lot of their boyfriends to help them for free is a quick answer but scratching under the surface, I might also like to think that they gave their purchaser the quality of service the customer required, or perhaps above their client's expectations. And anyway, this situation goes to show that by being unique, the girls were able to command a higher price than my friends and i did.

Other ways to make money fast is to also provide a timely service or product. The Car Wash business during the summer when the air is dry and dust builds up on the cars shows that. In an extreme example, if we had done that same business over the winter, I suspect we'd have suffered from some form of frost bite, even though mild and could have waited in vain for a car to approach. Now in a winter tempest and providing a snow digging business would have been a winner. It was and I and my pals did it. I don't believe if the sorority girls would have gone out in their bikinis during that time of the year.
